Saburou Oonishi, nicknamed Sabutan, is part of a group of mischievous neighborhood boys called the Anpaka Gang. When pressured to take on the role of leader, he declines, leading to his punishment of being sent alone through an unfinished, reportedly haunted underpass. There, he gets trapped in a section with missing tiles and enters a four-dimensional space. Inside, he discovers a large room and encounters a doll-like four-dimensional being. This entity grants him the ability to halt time, allowing Sabutan to move freely while everything else remains frozen. He uses this power to avoid dangers like bullets and trains. With this new ability, he becomes involved in various strange occurrences.
