Jungle Taitei

A manga created as a tie-in to the 1966 anime adaptation, it was published for a younger audience. The story centers on Leo, a young lion cub in the jungle, who tries to stop a violent red rhinoceros from harming his animal friends. It includes a boxing match between Leo and Bubu, a rebellious lion. Leo also aids a courageous hero seeking vengeance against Lubar, an old leopard. Another chapter explores the story of Laiya’s brother and the hydra-snake that destroyed their family. The series was part of the Shogakukan Sunday Comics and later collected in the 1994 Complete Manga Works edition of Bouken Ruby.
