A girl named Iroha was born into a wealthy family that has long venerated an ayakashi spirit, which they believe has brought them prosperity. Raised to obey her parents, Iroha possesses the ability to see spirits and comes to understand that the entity they revere is not a true deity. When her parents arrange for her to marry an older man, she begins questioning her family's beliefs and values. Eventually, she flees her home and encounters a striking demon.
