Kai has admired Ginta since his impressive performance in the War Games six years ago. ARMs, particularly Guardians, are now widespread, but Kai does not possess one and hopes to obtain one like Ginta's. After being sent on an errand by his caretaker, an ARM-smith who raised him following his parents' deaths, Kai is ambushed by a bandit from "chess." During his escape, he encounters Babbo. Babbo's awakening causes fake ARMs to malfunction. Kai may now have the chance to save MAR Heaven, following in the path of his hero.
