Sixty years prior to World War II, ten alternate worlds with differing physical laws were discovered, each sustained by a force known as Concept. It was also revealed that these worlds would collide, with those possessing the least Concept being destroyed. A world named Low-G, lacking Positive Concepts, initiated the Concept War to seize Concepts from other worlds, ultimately destroying them. Now, sixty years later, Low-G is deteriorating due to the spread of Negative Concepts. To prevent its collapse, Positive Concepts from the destroyed worlds are needed. UCAT, the organization responsible for the war, formed Team Leviathan to negotiate with survivors. Mikoto Sayama, whose grandfather was a central figure in the war and the negotiation team, is informed by IAI, UCAT's Japanese branch, after his grandfather's death. He assumes his grandfather's role, taking on the burden of the Sayama name, which is associated with hatred, as he begins negotiations with the remaining survivors.
