Pippy-chan

A manga created by Tezuka and originally published in Shuiesha’s Funny Book between 1951 and 1953, it features a standalone additional story in an August 1952 special issue. Facing the growing issue of overpopulation, a scientist proposes that humans should live underwater. When his idea is mocked, he experiments on his newborn son, transforming him into a half-human, half-fish being. Mistaking the child for dead after the procedure, the scientist and his wife bury him at sea. A mob, armed with tools, arrives demanding to know the child’s whereabouts. The couple is later found guilty of murder and imprisoned.
