A young boy named Pete finds a map leading to Treasure Island and sets out on a journey to locate it. The manga, which contributed to the rise in popularity of the medium, features Western-influenced artwork and a dynamic narrative. It was inspired by a novel by Robert Louis Stevenson and became a commercial success, selling 400,000 copies.
