A mythical realm located between heaven and hell, Purgatory is where souls burdened by sin are said to wander. Its existence was long considered a myth until fifteen years ago, when an event known as Judgment Day occurred. On that day, numerous fissures emerged simultaneously across the globe, opening the gates of Purgatory. From these rifts, tormented souls poured out, attacking humanity. Those who were possessed were turned into creatures known as "abominations," whose only goal is to consume human souls.
