The story is set in a small town experiencing a kidnapping and a string of murders, with another kidnapping having occurred eight years earlier. The compulsive liar, who serves as the narrator, and Misono Mayu, known as "Maa-chan," come together and begin living in the same house. The kidnapped children had previously been in Mayu's apartment.
