Shouhei Kusunoki was a gekiga artist who depicted the sorrows of ordinary people and died prematurely at the age of only 30. He made his debut as a manga artist in 1960 and worked as an assistant for Sanpei Shirato. He published manga mainly in "Garo" and "COM". His heart valve disease, which he had suffered since junior high school, worsened, and he died on March 15, 1974 at the age of 30.
