In 1986, Nishimi joined Telecom Animation Film, where he worked until going freelance in 2003. Since then he has participated on numerous of Studio 4°C's projects. His illustrations as an amateur became a topic of conversation among creators such as Kouji Morimoto, one of the founders of Studio 4°C.
