Ninja Bugeichou Pilot Film

A pilot film was produced in 1969 by director Nagisa Ooshima as a potential TV series based on his 1967 film. It was later released to the public over thirty years later on the seventh volume of the Ninpuu Kamui Gaiden DVD collection. The pilot was not accepted by the original comic creator, Shirato, leading to a shift in plans to animate Ninpuu Kamui Gaiden, a side story to Shirato's Kamui Den manga. Ooshima did not take part in the production of Ninpuu Kamui Gaiden.
