In 1983, during the height of the Cold War, alien beings known as BETA are attacking Earth, forcing humanity to defend itself with large combat vehicles called Tactical Surface Fighters. The 666th TSF Squadron Schwarzesmarken operates from East Germany near the Oder-Neisse line, conducting high-risk assaults against powerful BETA units. Commanded by Captain Irisdina Bernhard, the squadron prioritizes mission success over the safety of its members. Theodor Eberbach and his fellow pilots face internal challenges when Katia Waldheim, a new and idealistic recruit, joins the unit. Her presence attracts the interest of the East German secret police, the Stasi, adding tension to the unit's already dangerous operations.
