In a continent recovering from a four-year war that split it into North and South, Violet Evergarden, once known as a weapon, seeks a new life at the CH Postal Service. Inspired by the work of Auto Memories Dolls, who translate emotions into words, she begins training in this role. Through her experiences, she encounters a range of human feelings and the many forms of love. Haunted by words spoken to her on the battlefield by someone she deeply cares for, Violet struggles to understand their meaning. She continues her work, determined to uncover the significance of those words.
