Ichigo Monogatari
いちご物語
A fourteen-year-old girl of mixed Japanese heritage, raised in Lapland, relocates to Japan following her father's death. She is taken in by the Rintaro Ikuta household, which includes Rintaro, his father—a writer—and his older brother, a university student. The girl harbors a secret wish to marry Rintaro. Unable to read kanji, she must attend primary school, and her unfamiliarity with Japanese customs leads to frequent misunderstandings. Despite her gentle nature, her poor health complicates her situation. Over time, those around her grow fond of her, and Rintaro begins to feel affection for her as her health declines.
