Sansui Shirokuro dies prematurely due to a divine error and is sent to a different world as compensation. Hoping to be admired as a powerful protagonist, he instead ends up apprenticing under the recluse Suiboku after speaking to God. Five centuries pass, and Sansui becomes a hermit himself before discovering an abandoned infant. He adopts the child, naming her Rein, and begins raising her while traveling the world.
