Mahoraba

A young man named Shiratori Ryushi relocates to Tokyo to attend art school and pursue a career as a picture book writer. He rents a room in Narutaki-So, a traditional one-story Japanese house that stands out in the city. The property is managed by Aoba Kozue, his second cousin, whom he barely remembers from childhood. The house is home to five other residents, each with distinct personalities. Room 1 is occupied by Kotomi, Kozue’s close friend. Room 3 is home to Megumi, who follows her own path. Room 5 is shared by Sayoko and her daughter Asami, a first-year junior high student. Room 6 is inhabited by Yukio, who lives with his puppet named Johnny. Kozue, though, is the most unusual among them, as she undergoes a personality shift when startled. Unaware of this trait, Shiratori begins his new life in the house.
