A man who spent most of his middle and high school years absent from school and became unemployed as an adult lives a life consumed by video games, achieving a worldwide first-place ranking. After his in-game character is hacked and the data lost, he becomes so despondent that he tries to take his own life. He wakes up in a world resembling the game he played, now inhabiting the body of a sub-character he had previously created and invested in but later abandoned.
