[Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/tomoki_kyoda/) Influenced by Hiroyuki Nakano's commercials and music videos, he studied video art at the Musashino Art University, joining Gento Matsumoto's company Sal Brunei as a graphic designer. He soon changed his occupation to the animation industry, having aspired to be an animation director since his childhood. He initially joined [Group TAC](https://anilist.co/studio/86/Group-TAC) where he worked as episode director and storyboard artist under the guidance of [Mitsuru Hongou](https://anilist.co/staff/103366/Mitsuru-Hongou). His first major role was as mechanical/creature designer on [Chikyuu Bouei Kazoku](https://anilist.co/anime/1962/The-Daichis--Earths-Defense-Family/), working alongside [Shouji Kawamori](https://anilist.co/staff/97501/Shouji-Kawamori) and [Kazutaka Miyatake](https://anilist.co/staff/100987/Kazutaka-Miyatake), with whom he would collaborate profusely afterwards. He later moved to studio [Bones](https://anilist.co/studio/4/bones) landing as assistant director for [Yutaka Izubuchi](https://anilist.co/staff/99075/Yutaka-Izubuchi)'s [RahXephon](https://anilist.co/anime/165/RahXephon/). The two became close collaborators, with Kyouda soon taking the leading role on the [RahXephon: Pluralitas Concentio](https://anilist.co/anime/758/RahXephon-The-Motion-Picture/) movie. Soon after, he directed [Eureka Seven](https://anilist.co/anime/237/Eureka-Seven/), incorporating his love for music and different sub-cultures into mecha anime.
