In 1999, she received the Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo for Peach Girl. She worked for some time with Sailor Moon author Naoko Takeuchi. She started publishing her works in 1985.
Miwa Ueda partially based the main character of Peach Girl, Momo, on herself. As a student in junior high school, she was constantly embarrassed because she tanned very easily. She is also the creator of Angel Wars, Oh My Darling, and Glass Hearts.
