Suzume is an adopted daughter who raised her younger siblings after their mother disappeared and continued to take care of them after their father's death. The children were later taken in by their wealthy Nanami relatives, but Suzume was told that they only wanted the biological children. She was denied full family status and was only allowed to stay under the condition of being treated as a "pet."
