Aoyama Natsumi and Sakurame Haruka, who once shared a hidden affection as infants but were separated, reunite at Haou Academy, an institution for gifted students. Upon meeting again, they intend to confess their feelings, but a required course called "Love Studies" complicates their plans. The class enforces strict rules: revealing one's crush results in expulsion, which is equivalent to death, while achieving first place allows a student to date someone of the opposite sex. Believing that the other has romantic interest in someone else, they compete for the top position in the class. The academy's environment forces students to engage in flirtation and intense psychological challenges centered around love.
