Itou started as an in-betweener on [Zettai Muteki Raijin Ou](https://anilist.co/anime/1897/) and made his debut as a character designer on the series [Kemonozume](https://anilist.co/anime/1454/), directed by [Masaaki Yuasa](https://anilist.co/staff/100068/). He has since designed the characters for most of Yuasa's works.
