After Akari and Sumire are requested for a wedding-themed event, they overhear Johnny discussing an upcoming wedding over the phone, jumping to the conclusion that he's getting married. Curious about Johnny's assumed bride, the girls follow him to Dream Academy, where they meet with Seira and the other DreAca students and hear about how their careers have been going, before spotting Johnny dancing with Tiara, assuming she is the bride in question. Wanting to congratulate Johnny, Akari and Sumire agree to perform a concert at the wedding. The headmistress Orihime gives Akari, Sumire, Hinaki, Juri, Rin and Madoka a break by organizing a trip for them to travel to a summer island. Coincidentally, it is the same island where Akari had had Aikatsu Boot Camp. Naoto accompanies them on their trip and while the Sumire is telling stories about a mysterious monster on the island, Naoto goes missing.

The next day, the eight chosen idols are announced to be Ichigo, Mizuki, Ran, Aoi, Sakura, Yurika, Sumire, and Akari. As PowaPowa Puririn prepare for the Great Starlight School Festival, Shion learns that the recording schedule for the movie she is starring conflicts with their concert, but becomes determined to attend both. Hearing how hard Shion is working, Hinaki decides to show her support and goes to the mountains, where Shion is training for her role as a ninja. On the day of the festival's first round, Otome and Sakura place their faith in Shion and wait for her to arrive, allowing them to perform as a trio as planned. Madoka, Rin, and Juri all decide to form a unit together, but soon become concerned that their preferences and styles clash with each other. Looking for a way to feel united, the girl meet up with Encierro's disciple, Atsurou Muleta, who offers to make them unit dresses. However, Atsurou struggles to come up with a design that unifies the girls all together. While having different meals for their lunch, the girls realise that it is their differing personalities that make their unit special, also encouraging Atsurou to be more calm and cool rather than force himself to be passionate. While initially believing it to be impossible, Yurika eventually realises from spending time with Powa Powa Puririn that she wants to reform Tristar too. After being approached by Kaede and Yurika, Mizuki feels the same way and gets Orihime's okay to reform Tristar. Before Tristar's first performance following their reunion, Mizuki spends some time reminiscing with Ichigo before being greeted by Mikuru. Both Soleil and Luminas are lined up for the final day of the festival, with Akari and the others struggling to nail their unit appeal. Nonetheless, with Akari's optimistic outlook, the girls train until the last minute, finally managing to perfect their appeal. On the day of their concerts, Luminas manage to pull off their until appeal while Soleil once again stun with their performance. With the festival at its ends, Vanilla Chilli Pepper is ranked fifth, PowaPowa Puririn fourth, Tristar third, and Luminas second, with Soleil declared the overall winners. Encouraged by hearing how much they've changed just from making the decision to audition, Nono and Risa use some Dolly Devil brand Aikatsu Cards that they previously deemed too flashy for them for their audition, which they pass with flying colors. Taking the girls on her recommended sights, Yuu explains how her experience with her exchange programs in Kyoto and Kobe led her to become a travel idol. Arriving in Kyoto, Yuu has Akari and the others join her in her Halloween special, along with Kokone and Miyabi. After the program, as Akari goes to sleep, Yuu tells the others that it was because of Akari that she chose to pursue so many exchange programs, having promised with her to both shine bright. After the two girls reunite and explain their goals to the woman, they later discover that she is in fact Dolly Devil's top designer, Lucy Kisaragi, who makes some Premium Dresses for them after being inspired by her encounter with them. Luminas arrive in Okinawa, where they meet Minami Hateruma, a student of Churaumi Beat Academy who is a strong admirer of Rin's dancing. As the girls hear about how Rin inspired Minami to become an idol, Sumire reveals she and Rin were invited as special guests at a dance festival in Okinawa, but Rin has a schedule conflict with a commercial shoot and might not be able to make it. The next day, Luminas spend the day training with Minami at Churami Beat Academy, while Rin, who is trying to get through her shoot in time, explains to Orihime and Johnny how her encounter with Minami helped her to enjoy dancing. Believing there is a spy hidden in the academy, Orihime tasks Akari with becoming a top idol and piloting the Oozorakkon mech in order to protect the academy. Meanwhile, Sumire discovers that Rin is the spy swapping people's dresses for jerseys, becoming transformed into a Jerseyschawrz herself. As Rin is confronted by Nao and Madoka, Rin reveals she was originally sent as a spy for Johnny but came to love dresses, deciding to join the side of good and help train Akari to pilot the mech. Joined by her fellow idols, Akari fights through the Jerseyschwarz army, transforming them into cute girls, managing to recover Sumire and defeat Johnny, who becomes a dance teacher at Galaxy Starlight.
