Juri spends the New Year holiday with Akari and her family while they are on vacation. During the festivities, Akari feels embarrassed by her parents' intense interest in soil. The group later looks at childhood photographs together. They then go to a local shrine where Juri observes that Akari resembles her father more than Akari is ready to acknowledge.
