Kei Nagai, a diligent student, experiences a life-altering event when he is hit by a truck. Following this accident, he realizes he possesses the traits of an ajin, a being capable of immortality. Overwhelmed by shock and panic at this new reality, he decides to flee from society. He seeks refuge in a secluded location to hide from those who might exploit his condition. In his state of distress, Kei finds that he cannot place his trust in anyone except his childhood friend, Kaito, who becomes his sole confidant during this crisis.
