At True Cross Academy, Rin Okumura notices unusual signs as normal individuals begin to see invisible creatures in the human world, Assiah. While Rin views this as a chance to connect, his twin brother Yukio feels increasingly overwhelmed by his academic, teaching, and exorcist responsibilities. Yukio has not spoken about his newly awakened abilities, unsure of their extent or meaning. As Rin and his companions train for the Exorcist Certification Exam, the True Cross Order discovers the first artificial gate to Gehenna, built using advanced technology. The exorcists identify the Illuminati, a powerful and wealthy organization, as the likely creators. The Illuminati are also suspected of placing three spies within the True Cross Order, one of whom may be among the trainee exorcists tasked with defending humanity from demonic forces.
