EP 1Yato loses his Regalia after a cheap prayer, then saves a girl who becomes a half-phantom
Jan 5, 2014Yato, a god, accepts a five-yen request to defeat a phantom using his Regalia, Tomone. Immediately after the battle, Tomone terminates their contract, leaving Yato without a weapon. He then accepts a job to locate a missing cat named Milord. During this search, Hiyori Iki sees Yato walking into traffic and pushes him out of the way, getting hit by a bus instead. Her spirit separates from her body but she returns safely. While hospitalized, Hiyori hears voices and meets Yato again, who reveals his identity as a deity. Later, Yato finds Milord but is attacked by the phantom. Hiyori helps him escape, discovering that the accident has turned her into a half-phantom with a cat-like tail, causing her spirit to detach occasionally. To cure this condition, she pays Yato five yen for assistance.

Jan 12, 2014Hiyori frequently drifts from her body and seeks a phantom to serve as Yato’s new Regalia, as he refuses to work without one. She encounters a hostile spirit and attempts to fight it alone, but Yato intervenes and sustains a dangerous blight wound. After retreating to treat the injury, Yato explains that Hiyori’s tail connects her to her physical form and its severance would be fatal. When the phantom returns, Yato captures an uncorrupted spirit that manifests as a white katana, enabling him to defeat the enemy. He subsequently names this new Regalia Yukine, who transforms into the appearance of a teenage human boy.

Subsequently, the trio is summoned by the God of Learning, Lord Tenjin, who has recently adopted Tomone, now known as Mayu, as a new Regalia. Tenjin tasks Yato with eliminating phantoms appearing near a railway track. During the battle, the group confronts a destructive storm. Yato and Yukine successfully destroy this entity, preventing it from forcing a schoolboy to walk into the path of an oncoming train, thereby averting a potential tragedy.
EP 4Yato meets Kofuku while Usuke Urasawa falls from a building
Jan 26, 2014Yato brings Hiyori and Yukine to visit the god Kofuku and her Regalia, Daikoku. During their meeting, Yato is summoned by Usuke Urasawa, a suicidal office worker, and accidentally knocks him off a building. As Usuke falls, he explains his misfortune stems from his love for Kofuku, who is a Binbougami causing bad luck. Yato uses Yukine to sever Usuke's connection to Kofuku and ensures his safe landing. After receiving payment, Kofuku reveals to Hiyori that Yato has killed before. Yato instructs Hiyori to seek Kofuku and Daikoku if anything happens to him. Meanwhile, Yukine meets a strange woman who is revealed to be Nora, Yato's former Regalia.

Suddenly, the god Bishamon, who holds a personal grudge against Yato, arrives and launches an attack. Hiyori contacts Kofuku and Daikoku for assistance, utilizing her sense of smell to track Yato's location. Kofuku attempts to halt the conflict, but her actions inadvertently create a massive hole surrounded by raging storms. Bishamon exploits the chaos to inflict damage on Yato, yet one of her regalia, Kazuma, urges her to retreat in order to protect her other regalia.

Yato asserts his authority, reminding Yukine that he is his regalia. Together, Yato and Yukine defeat the phantom. This sequence highlights the growing tension surrounding Yukine's behavior and the urgent need for intervention to prevent Yato's demise, as revealed in the initial confrontation.

Feb 23, 2014Yato and Yukine are summoned to Hiyori's school to assist a bullied student, with Yato providing him an item. While there, Yukine expresses regret over never attending high school or making friends. The student is influenced by a phantom to attack his bully with a knife given by Yato, but he resists and dispels the spirit through his own will. Yukine, however, succumbs to his frustration and begins smashing the school's windows, which causes Yato's blight to spread. Hiyori discovers the destruction and attempts to bring Yukine to Kofuku and Daikoku, risking her own safety and becoming blighted in the process. Kofuku and Daikoku ultimately seal them out using a borderline.
EP 9Hiyori seeks aid for Yukine’s purification while Nora awakens a vengeful deity.
Mar 2, 2014Daikoku and Kofuku permit Hiyori to cross the borderline to cleanse her blight, warning that Yato will die unless Yukine undergoes punishment by ablution. Daikoku enlists Mayu but struggles to find a third Regalia, rejecting Nora’s help to avoid her killing Yukine. Hiyori visits Bishamon’s shrine to request Kazuma’s assistance. The three Regalias discover Yukine’s back is covered with phantoms and begin the ablution, where Yukine must endure pain to confess his sins or transform into a phantom. Yukine admits his crimes, expressing jealousy of the living. As his condition worsens, Hiyori and Yato remind him they are friends and that his name represents a person. Yukine apologizes for his actions, allowing the ablution to succeed. Yato and Yukine return to normal and thank Hiyori for saving their lives. Meanwhile, Nora awakens a god named Rabo, who holds a grudge against Yato.
EP 10Yukine works at Daikoku's stand while Hiyori faces Nora's threats on New Year's Day
Mar 9, 2014Yukine takes a part-time job at Daikoku's food stand to repay his theft. Hiyori and Yukine learn from Miyu that Tenjin banished a regalia for stinging him with blight. Tenjin tells Yato he might fix Hiyori's issue if he severs ties with her. On New Year's Day, Yato and Yukine fight phantoms while Hiyori visits a shrine with friends. Nora lures Hiyori away, sending phantoms to chase her. Dawn sunlight dissolves the phantoms, saving Hiyori. Nora reveals Rabo wants to kill Yato and tells Hiyori to stop existing. After defeating the remaining phantoms, Yato and Yukine find Hiyori has no memory of Yato.

Yato cannot defeat Rabo, a calamity god who once worked alongside him, and the pair depart, promising to return the memory if Yato wins. Yukine shows Hiyori a picture book of their time together, but Furuhime warns that Hiyori is losing memories of Yukine and risks becoming an empty vessel. Despite the dangers and Yato's internal conflict about the right course of action, both he and Yukine resolve to restore Hiyori's memories.

Mar 23, 2014Yato and Yukine accidentally bring Hiyori to Rabo's shrine, where Yato is swiftly defeated and trapped in a water sphere. Hiyori rescues him, but Rabo destroys the sphere holding her memories, rendering her unconscious. Enraged, Yato reverts to his former persona as a god of calamity, kicking Rabo against a cliff. Rabo then merges with a storm and its phantoms, causing boulders to fall. Yato saves Hiyori from a falling rock, holding her close. Her memories return due to his scent, and she regains consciousness. Realizing he must eliminate her, Rabo grabs Hiyori, but Yato and Yukine defeat him using a spirit-cleansing technique. On the journey home, Hiyori declares she never wants to sever her bonds with them.
