Ryoma and his friends receive an invitation to a royal concert at Nijo Castle. Although they are aware that the event is a trap, the band chooses to confront the shogunate and intensifies their practice sessions. Meanwhile, Kondo and Hijikata grow uneasy regarding Okita’s strange behavior since his return from Hikone. They also notice Ii’s unusual conduct. Consequently, these characters head toward Nijo Castle to investigate the situation and address their concerns about the impending gathering.
