Toraji escorts Tamaki to the hospital, leaving the Muroe High kendo club members to practice sparring. Miyako’s bamboo sword breaks during practice, prompting her and Eiga to visit a kendo store for a replacement. There, they encounter Carrie Nishikawa, an expatriate who develops an immediate crush on Eiga. Meanwhile, Ishibashi accompanies Tamaki home, emphasizing the importance of understanding defeat. Back at the dojo, Miyako challenges Carrie to a match. Carrie utilizes a double-sword technique that gives her a distinct advantage, leading to Miyako’s expected loss. As Carrie leaves, she tells Miyako she will return for another encounter.
