Ichigo and his allies face modified souls who trap them in a massive gate and place Chad inside a giant hourglass. Ririn declares they have five minutes to defeat the enemies and save Chad. Ichigo breaks the hourglass, revealing Kisuke Urahara orchestrated this as a training exercise. He also informs the group that Uryuu has lost his Quincy powers. Meanwhile, Soul Reapers Yoruichi Shihouin and Soi Fon investigate the Bounts, humans who consume souls for sustenance. After finding soul remains, they rush to another attack site. There, Yoruichi intervenes to stop a woman from consuming another soul. This segment covers the Bount arc on 5/28.
