EP 25Dawn approaches as Momiji performs the Rite of Matsuri while Susano-oh mutates and Arigami threaten Japan.
Mar 22, 1995As dawn breaks, the TAC readies the Kushinada pulse amplifier for the final battle against the mutating Susano-oh. With an hour until the solar eclipse, Kaede initiates a ceremony, triggering Susano-oh’s monstrous transformation. The Prime Minister broadcasts the truth about the Arigami monsters to the public, prompting Momiji to request a chance to live via an alternative method. If she fails, she accepts sacrifice. Momiji begins the Rite of Matsuri, amplifying pulses via satellites onto Susano-oh in Tokyo, but the beast destroys them with a force field. Murakumo shields Momiji in a ceramic field and attempts to lure Kaede. Three Arigami in disguise order the Prime Minister to signal the US for a bomb strike, but he refuses. Sugashita, Sakura, and a giant pink turtle intervene. Murakumo targets both Kushinadas, but Kaede saves Momiji. Sakura breaks the ceramic field, and Murakumo engages Kusanagi. Kaede rejects Momiji’s pleas and joins Susano-oh. Momiji climbs the altar, instructing Matsudaira to use the amplifier on her, and restarts the Rite of Matsuri as Susano-oh grows stronger.
EP 26Arigami blooms cause plant transformations as Kaede merges with Susano-oh to defeat Murakumo and complete the matsuri.
Mar 29, 1995Giant Arigami buds release mitamas that turn people into plants, prompting Momiji to endure the Kushinada pulse. Kaede merges with Susano-oh to shield him from Murakumo, who drains energy until his mitama shatter. Susano-oh defeats Murakumo with an energy bolt while children across Japan sing along to Momiji’s song, completing the matsuri. The TAC members feel warmth and happiness. Momiji telepathically questions Kaede’s loss of hope before collapsing. Kusanagi brings Momiji to Kaede, and Susano-oh, reverted to a baby, revives her. Kaede and Susano-oh vanish into the earth. The TAC disperses: Sakura becomes an idol, Matsudaira reunites with family, Takeuchi and Kunakida work at a temple, and Yaegashi introduces Kome to her mother. Momiji and Kusanagi walk in a forest, realizing they are back at their first meeting spot. Kusanagi recalls her funny panties, causing Momiji to blush and suggest they start over before an off-screen kiss occurs.
