Chibi Maruko-chan Movie (1990)

A 9-year-old girl nicknamed Chibi Maruko-chan is mischievous and expressive, often tricking her grandfather and worrying over how to spend her money. She dislikes sitting beside boys she finds unattractive and behaves like a typical child. At the start of the second term, she and her classmates regroup, and Maruko is placed in a team with two boys who take charge, making her a subordinate. She experiences stress at school, especially as the athletic meet nears and students prepare. Maruko is not as diligent as others and is sometimes late with her training. She observes the two boys constantly competing with each other but also notices the strength of their bond.
