At Taichi's house, club members view the master and queen matches on television. They are surprised to find Shinobu has gained weight, which impacts her speed and accuracy. Wearing her grandmother's kimono, Shinobu recalls her mother's divorce and moving in with her grandmother, who introduced her to the Myojo Karuta Society. As Yumi captures several cards, Shinobu internally apologizes for failing to save them. She also remembers elementary school classmates stealing her cards. Despite these challenges, Shinobu defeats Yumi and retains her title. Chihaya realizes she must develop a deeper attachment to the cards, similar to Shinobu and Kana. Attention then shifts to the master match. Nishida informs Chihaya that her style resembles Suō's more than Shinobu's. The commentator notes that Suō possesses 28 one-syllable cards.
