Arata’s parents accept his upcoming move to Tokyo for college. Komano and Tsukuba secure victories in the Class C and Class D tournaments. Before departing Oumi Jinguu, Sakurazawa offers to send Chihaya a video of the Class A final. A hospital diagnosis reveals Chihaya has enchondromatosis in her index finger, leading her to schedule an operation. While recovering, she uses Chitose’s laptop to view the Class A final DVD. She contacts Arata, who recalls playing karuta in their Tokyo apartment. This conversation reinforces her enduring love for both karuta and Arata. After a week of recovery and summer homework, Kana reads Chihaya’s poems and recognizes Arata as Taichi’s rival. Sakurazawa subsequently invites the entire Mizusawa club to a karuta camp in Fujisaki, where Chihaya and Taichi attend.
