Colorful

A person is excluded from the cycle of reincarnation due to a past sin and is given a chance to recall it after winning a lottery. The spirit inhabits the body of Makoto, a 14-year-old boy who died by suicide, in an attempt to recover lost memories. The individual struggles with Makoto's tragic situation and the ethical implications of using his body. Gradually, it becomes clear that human interactions are strained by the overwhelming complexity of distinguishing one's true self from others in a vibrant and confusing world. The film is based on a prize-winning first-person novel by Mori Eto and has received multiple awards in Japan.
