The unnamed Shinigami departs, presumably heading to the human world. Ryuk then addresses the departing entity, suggesting that finding the notebook could lead to unforgettable experiences. He ends by asking if the Shinigami agrees, specifically directing the question toward Light. The film serves as a retrospective framing device for the initial events of the series.
