Boredom drives Nobita to persuade Doraemon to lend him a smiling earphone. Upon wearing the device, he hears amusing sounds that cause uncontrollable laughter. His mother is initially disturbed by the noise. Subsequently, his friends become upset, believing he is mocking them. The situation escalates as his friends react negatively to his involuntary giggling. Nobita's attempt to alleviate his boredom leads to social friction and misunderstanding among his peers and family members.
