Rekuta feels lonely after Shobu has been training with Dr. Root for over three years. After losing a duel, Knight advises Rekuta not to discard his deck and informs him of a local tournament that serves as a qualifier for the Battle Arena Tournament. At the JDC center, they encounter four skilled duelists with unique styles. A cloaked group defeats several opponents, revealing themselves to be Mimi, Hakuoh, and Boy George, who have improved their skills. The final cloaked duelist is Shobu, who struggles against Gorou Murata but wins using Invincible Cataclysm and dragons. Shobu and his friends qualify for the next tournament. Dr. Root is revealed to be the observer. Rekuta hugs Shobu, who explains he sent postcards that Dr. Root forgot to mail. The identity of a man in a robot and a mysterious girl reading a book remains unknown.
