EP 1Rikuo investigates the Time of Eve café after finding a mysterious phrase in Sammy's logs
Aug 1, 2008Rikuo and Masaki investigate a strange entry in Sammy's activity log regarding the Time of Eve. They visit a café where humans and androids interact without discrimination. Akiko, a regular patron, explains her desire to understand human emotions despite being an android. The friends later discover at school that Akiko is actually a student's personal android. Rikuo returns home and notices that the coffee prepared by Sammy matches the specific blend served at the café. He questions Sammy about her independent actions and the connection between her duties and the establishment. This sequence reveals hidden layers in the relationship between humans and their robotic companions, challenging the strict societal rules that separate the two groups.
EP 2Rikuo and Masaki investigate Sammy’s potential deception at the Time of Eve café.
Oct 1, 2008Rikuo tells Masaki that Sammy likely did not act alone and denies visiting the Time of Eve café. Masaki recites the Three Laws of Robotics, noting no rule prohibits lying, so they plan to verify her truthfulness. While waiting, they are distracted when Chie hides Rikuo’s glasses, though Akiko promises their return. Masaki leaves to pursue Setoro while another patron speaks with Nagi. Rikuo realizes androids can lie, but Shimei suggests secrets protect loved ones. After retrieving his glasses from Nagi, Rikuo identifies the patron as Sammy, who flees as the door locks. Nagi advises empathy, leading Rikuo to stay put. He later thanks Sammy for the coffee, while Setoro informs Dr. Ashimori that Rikuo is not an Ethics Committee spy.
EP 3Koji and Rina: Lovers of Eve
Dec 1, 2008Nagi introduces Rikuo and Misaki to Koji and Rina, a couple who frequent the cafe. Believing the pair represents an Android-Human relationship, the friends observe their interaction. Tensions rise, leading to a conflict between Koji and Rina. Rikuo and Misaki separate to comfort each individual. During these private conversations, they uncover the truth: both Koji and Rina are Androids. Each partner mistakenly believes the other is human, remaining unaware of their companion's true nature. This revelation highlights the complex dynamics of their relationship and the assumptions made by those around them regarding the nature of their bond.
EP 4Nameless: Doll of Eve
May 1, 2009An elderly android enters a deserted cafe, revealing its name is ****. It lacks memory of its former workplace address and the child it cared for. These data gaps trigger a logical error, causing the unit to shut down. Nagi determines the android was illegally abandoned to avoid return fees, with personal records erased to hide the owner's identity. The device's final state suggests a desire for its name to be remembered by someone before its systems failed completely.
EP 5Masaki suspects Shinmei is an android while Rikuo visits the cafe alone
Jul 1, 2009Masaki informs Rikuo that Shinmei might be an experimental android created to care for human children. Rikuo visits the cafe alone and discovers Shimei has left Chie by herself due to a monthly obligation. He attempts to question Chie about this arrangement, but Akiko intervenes. Setoro explains that humans inevitably hurt those around them, making the situation unavoidable. Later, Rikuo wakes from sleep to find Sammy playing a melody on the cafe piano. He admits he previously stopped playing because he would have resented her mastering the instrument, but declares he no longer cares and begins to play. Shinmei returns to thank Rikuo for the performance. Finally, Rikuo tells Nagi that he does not dislike the cafe.
EP 6Masaki and THX Confront Ethics Committee Undercover Android at Cafe
Sep 18, 2009A flashback reveals Masaki's father disabling android THX after overhearing it console Masaki about marital issues. In the present, the Ethics Committee plans to investigate establishments promoting improper human-android relations. Rikuo invites Masaki to the cafe, but he declines.
