Twenty alien pathfinders arrive on Earth, prompting the SF9 crew to protect Sam and Nagisa aboard the Space Thunderbolt. Their mission is to reach the sun and release a transmitter that will cause the alien major fleet to crash, thereby saving Earth. Simultaneously, the crew must prevent Carlo Morelli from reaching the pyramid. If he discovers the transmitter is missing, he will send a signal to the major fleet to attack. The SF9 crew engages in combat against the aliens' super hi-tech space ships. During this critical battle, many human pilots sacrifice their lives in an effort to save the Earth from destruction.
