Ep. 2: Miaka and Tasuki survive an earthquake while Hotohori reunites with his family in Kounan.

Before Mt. Taikyou collapses from a Tenkou-induced earthquake, Taiitsukun explains memory orbs as Miaka’s group races to return them to Taka. Tasuki rescues a fallen Miaka from a lake, and they reunite with Chichiri and Taka to head to the palace. In the real world, Yui is injured by an exploding window after Shigyou reveals himself as the demon Renkou, declaring Miaka his enemy. At the Kounan palace, the group meets Empress Houki, who is mute and blind, and her son Boushin, who is also mute. A monster hidden in Boushin’s teddy bear attacks, but Hotohori’s spirit possesses the toddler to defeat it. Hotohori regains a physical form as a child, allowing him to speak to Houki and hear Boushin say "Papa." Taka accesses Hotohori’s memory orb, confirming the strength of Tamahome and Miaka’s love. Suzaku’s red light then transports Miaka and Taka back to the real world, while a young man resembling a Suzaku warrior prays at an altar elsewhere in Kounan.
