Meiko requests Mikami’s assistance in locating her missing monkey-like Shikigami, Makola, which possesses the ability to transform into living beings, including humans. Mikami and Okinu agree to assist in order to prevent Meiko from becoming distressed and releasing all her Shikigami. Yokoshima also offers his help, hoping to secure Meiko's eternal gratitude. Each participant becomes entangled in difficult situations during their separate searches. Ultimately, they discover that Makola had found its own way home without their intervention.
