While the scientist claims the element is perfectly sealed and harmless, Maetel remains silent and observant. She abruptly asks if anyone has ever been injured by the technology. The scientist replies "Nai," meaning never, to Maetel’s pointed inquiry. Tetsuro is reassured, but Maetel’s silence suggests skepticism. After the visit, Maetel and Tetsuro depart on the Express. Tetsuro enthusiastically praises the scientist to the Conductor, while Maetel offers no comment on the encounter.
