Determined to defeat Kageyama, Hinata joins the Karasuno High School volleyball club, only to find his rival also joining. Their conflicting personalities lead to immediate conflict, prompting captain Daichi Sawamura to ban them from the team until they cooperate. After days of tension and envy, the pair challenge the third-year players to a match. They agree that victory grants them club membership, while defeat forces Kageyama to forfeit his role as setter for the duration of the third years' presence. This high-stakes encounter tests their ability to overcome personal differences and work together within the school's volleyball program.
