Lunia, the daughter of the Count of Persephone, is neglected by her father and used by her half-brother. A priest selects her to be engaged to Hades, leader of the cursed Khronoa family, and she agrees to the marriage. The Khronoa family is under a curse that shortens the life of its head unless he marries a bride chosen by the emperor. Hades tells Lunia he has no romantic feelings for her, only a desire to end the curse. To help him, Lunia spends a night with him and then leaves, unaware she is pregnant. Seven years later, Hades locates her and attempts to reclaim her and their child.
