A young girl named Mary Lennox moves to England after losing her parents to a cholera outbreak in India. She is placed under the care of her uncle, a reclusive man who rarely interacts with others, leaving her isolated in his large home. Mary befriends Dicon, a kind servant boy, and his sister Martha. Together, they explore the estate and eventually find a hidden garden. Mary believes the garden may help restore joy to her family, particularly her cousin Collin, who has a physical disability.
