Ikuta no Kita

The film consists of a collection of cover illustrations and short texts created over 32 issues of a monthly literary magazine between April 2012 and December 2014. Each cover was imagined as a scene within a larger, fictional narrative, with accompanying text written for each illustration. The work reflects fragmented memories and a sense of uncertainty, as the narrator questions whether their efforts have had any meaning. The experience is described through fleeting moments of awareness shaped by shifting, undefined sensations. The animated film is a collaboration between a Japanese animation studio and a French production company. It premiered internationally at an animation festival in November 2021.
