Ep. 8: Sensei encounters Esche and Yamada while the world tree suffers under greedy other-worlder control

Sensei and his party visit a town near the world tree, which is losing vitality due to greedy other-worlders running a gambling den and using tree leaves as an addictive drug. Sensei meets Esche, a mysterious woman who helps him relax while secretly protecting townspeople from thugs. Another brave other-worlder, Yamada, arrives and defeats the thugs at the villagers' request. Despite Sensei's protests, the people accuse Esche of betrayal and force her to leave. The villagers then propose that Yamada continue the drug business, leaving him distraught by their greed. As the team departs, the world tree begins to fall, seemingly saddened by the situation. Esche visits Sensei, revealing she is a fragment of the world tree, and gifts him infinite calmotin.
