Peridot introduces Rald, a new student from the Magic Academy, to Akari, Ruby, and Labra as the New Year begins. Rald seeks the Sparkling Round Thingy to make a wish and find a partner. Labra accompanies him, causing a major disturbance at Winston Academy. Akari, Yuma, Ruby, and Peridot eventually locate both Jewelpets. They discipline the pair, and Akari provides Rald with the item: an Otoshidama containing a 500 Yen coin.
